DDC Clinic

DDC Clinic began treating special needs children with inherited or metabolic disorders in May 2002. We provide treatment, research and educational services to Amish and non-Amish children and their families we are open to all children.
One of our primary goals is the prevention of disease - not just the treatment. Our Center is patterned after the Clinic for Special Children, a clinic established in 1990 by Dr. Holmes Morton, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Through his work he has found that, approximately one-third of the diseases found among these children are treatable, meaning they could lead close to normal lives. This is especially true when diagnosis and treatment come early, making a significant difference in a majority of the cases.
Since DDC Clinics opening, we have seen patients with 37 different genetic diseases and we have formed collaborations with 10 science research groups and various medical centers. Knowing what our patients have will help enhance care and treatment of these diseases. These special children require the special care that we can give them. After many years of frustration trying to find answers for their children, a group of Amish parents with special needs children set out to create a clinic that would provide the comprehensive care their children desperately needed. These children had complicated medical conditions that were extremely difficult and time-consuming to diagnose and treat. Only by creating a unique clinic, one that provided the doctor and staff with the time and resources to dedicate to these children, would they find the answers they were seeking.
