United Way Services of Geauga County funds a network of
programs and initiatives that work together to make our community
stronger. Through the citizens review process, volunteers assess
programs of nearly 20 health and human service agencies. Programs
that are supported by United Way meet well-established professional
standards for nonprofit management practices, financial management
and service provision.

Cancer Society
The American Cancer Society is the nationwide, community-based,
voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer
as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives
and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education,
advocacy and service.
American
Heart Association, Northeast Ohio Affilate
The American Heart Association is a not-for-profit, voluntary
health organization funded by private contributions. Its mission
is to reduce disability and death from cardiovascular diseases
and stroke.

Red Cross
The Red Cross is a non-profit agency providing community safety
health + education courses; disaster action/response team
for local disasters (fires, tornadoes, floods, etc.) community
seminars on many subjects for organizations, schools, senior
+ youth centers, etc.
Arthritis
Foundation, Northeastern Ohio Chapter (Main)
The Arthritis Foundation offers exercise programs, self-help
classes, forums and workshops, and free information and referral
for people with arthritis and their families.
Big
Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Ohio
Big Brothers Big Sisters provides positive mentoring relationships
in order to foster the development of children in reaching
their highest potential as responsible and caring adults.
Boy
Scouts of America
Programs for youth (ages 6-21 yr.) that teaches moral and
ethical values through an outdoor program that challenges
them and fosters respect for nature, one another and themselves.
Camp
Sue Osborn
Camp Sue Osborn provides a summer camping experience specifically
designed for Geauga County students who are mentally and physically
challenged, as well as gifted students.
Catholic
Charities
Catholic Charities offers counseling and support services
for children, families, and older adults. We also provide
employment support services for persons with physical and
mental disabilities.
Chagrin
Falls Park Community Center
Provides
a community center for the health, recreation, education and
general welfare for the residents of Chagrin Falls Park, Bainbridge
Township, and Chagrin Falls. Programs include a summer day
camp for elementary-level youth, summer activities for teens,
after-school youth development programs, case management and
emergency services for adults and families in the southwestern
part of Geauga County. Geauga Dept. of Aging rents space at
the center to provide day programming and special events for
older adults.

Community Day Care Center
We are a non-profit,
private, board-run childcare center. We offer a loving, safe
environment and we are accredited through the NAEYC. (Natl.
Assoc. for the Education of Young Children.)

First Call For Help
2-1-1 First Call
For Help administers safety net programs based on researched,
un-met needs of Geauga County residents. Also maintains a
comprehensive and accurate database to link Geauga County
residents to health and human service agencies.
Girl Scout Council of Northeast Ohio
Value-based program for girls (ages 5 - 17) of Cuyahoga, Geauga,
and Lake county's that help them become confident, resourceful,
and responsible young women.
Lake
Geauga Recovery Centers, Inc.
The Lake Geauga Center provides PREVENTION, Assessment, Treatment,
temporary shelter and rehabilitation services to persons with
the diseases of alcoholism + drug addiction, consistent with
12 Step programs and regardless of their ability to pay.
Neighboring: Mental Health Services
A licensed mental health/substance abuse treatment facility
provides psychiatry medication, counseling, support groups,
vocational rehabilitation and job placement, day treatment
and community education.
Ravenwood
Ravenwood provides structured, partial hospital and other
mental health services for adults, specialized health services
for child victims of sexual abuse and telephone hotline services
24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Salvation Army in Geauga County
Operates volunteer services and provides support services
to individuals, families and children.
Society
for Rehabilitation
Comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation including physical
therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology,
hearing aids, audiology, early intervention, preschool and
adult recreation.
WomenSafe,
Inc.
WomenSafe is a domestic violence shelter and resource center
located in Geauga County. WomenSafe's primary reason for existence
is to provide safe, emergency shelter to victims of domestic
violence. The agency also provides counseling, art therapy,
support groups, community education and court advocacy services
for individuals who request such services. |
