United Way Services of Geauga County
Welcomes New Leadership
The Board of Trustees for United Way Services of Geauga County is pleased to announce that Douglas B. Brown, Esq. and Sheriff Dan McClelland will be leading the organization over the next two years as Co-Chairs of the Board. The duo will be replacing Deborah F. O’Connor who served as the Chair of the Board from 2003-2006.
Brown, a Newbury resident, is an attorney specializing in employment and labor law. He has been an active member of the United Way Board of Trustees since, January 2005 and has many years of volunteer experience with United Way in general. Brown stated, “I believe that I have an obligation to do what I can to help make my community a better place and service with United Way is an excellent vehicle for doing so.”
McClelland, a Munson resident, has served Geauga County for nearly 31 years as a member of the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office. In July 2003, the Geauga County Commissioners unanimously appointed McClelland as the Geauga County Sheriff and he successfully sought re-election to a full term in 2004. According to McClelland, “I have always enjoyed helping people and have really enjoyed that part of my career. I was hoping to utilize some of my experiences and in some small way make a positive difference in our community.”
